Susan G. Komen 3-Day
|
Can you feel the love? That is something that my brother, my nephew and I said to each other as we were going through the most difficult time of our lives. My sister-in-law Jean was fighting for her life against breast cancer. Sadly Jean suffered many complications from this disease and required a great deal of care. Her entire family pulled together and cared for Jean with so much love. You could walk in the house, anytime day or night ,and you could feel the love. She never complained and just kept trying to have hope to one day beat breast cancer.
Unfortunately Jean lost her battle with breast cancer on October 14th, 2011. At the same time I could not help but notice that it seemed like the color pink was everywhere. At every turn was a ribbon and everyone had a story to tell of a loved one that was diagnosed with breast cancer.
Just as things started to get back to normal.. life does go on. My husband Dave's youngest sister Sharon was diagnosed with a pre breast cancer condition called LCIS. One month after that Dave's sister Amy was diagnosed with stage one breast cancer. Both Sharon and Amy are going through treatment. And because of the early detection the prognosis is very promising.
All of this lead to my decision to do the 3 day walk with my family. Please support me as I take an amazing journey in the fight to end breast cancer! The Susan G. Komen 3-Day TM is a 60-mile walk over the course of three days. Net proceeds from the 3-Day are invested in breast cancer research and awareness. The research and clinical trial gave us another year with Jean and the early detection will hopefully give us many years with Amy and Sharon.I will walk for Jean, for Amy, for Sharon and for many others.
Please help in any way you can.
Thank you,
Cathy Killmar
