Susan G. Komen 3-Day

For the past almost 30 years I have watched as breast cancer has taken some very important women in my life, with the notion that there somehow was a hereditary connection.  In September of 2008, my fears were confirmed, i was identified as a carrier of BRCA2, a hereditary gene mutation which increased my odds of developing breast or ovarian cancer in my lifetime to 85%.  My mother had passed away from breast cancer at the age of 52, her sister from ovarian cancer at age 71.  There was no doubt I was to have a prophylactic double mastectomy which would significantly reduce my risk of developing this life altering disease.  I now belong to a fabulous support group, Positively Empowered where I've become friends with some breast cancer survivors and previvors (like myself).  These women encouraged me to join team Ta-Ta Breast Cancer with my two daughters to walk in the Susan G. Komen 3-day 60 mile walk.  I've also joined the National Breast Cancer Coalition and will be heading to Washington, D.C. to lobby on capital hill in an effort to end Breast Cancer by the year 2020.  Breast cancer has effected so many lives, I'm sure there is someone you know who has battled this disease.  Please support me in my efforts to raise $2300 to walk 60 miles putting us 1 step closer to putting an end to breast cancer suffering.  Thank you!
