Hello All,
As many of you already know my aunt Jean passed away on October 14, 2011, at the age of 46 after a 2 1/2 year battle with breast cancer.
It is because of her that I have chosen to join the Susan G. Komen 3-Day for the cure, which is a 60 mile walk for woman and men who want to make a personal difference in the fight to end breast cancer.  Participants commit to raise at least $2,300 and spend several months training to prepare for the event.
I am walking to honor Jean's memory.  She was so much more than a breast cancer victim.  She was outgoing, vivacious, opinionated, strong, and brave. She lived life to the fullest and didn't let others opinions influence her decisions. She loved playing cards, the casino, Jim Beam and her family and friends. But most of all she doted on her son Mike, my wonderful cousin and fellow walker. 
Jean was not only my aunt, she was my best friend. We were inseparable from the time I was born and we had an incredible bond.  I felt like we understood each other like no one else could.  We were always there for each other.  Now, as I face life without her, it is my passion to find a cure for breast cancer and look forward to a day where no one else has to lose their best friend to this terrible disease.

Approximately 1.4 million people are diagnosed with breast cancer globally each year. Approximately 456,000 people worldwide die from the disease each year.  Every 69 seconds somewhere in the world a woman dies from breast cancer.
