Mission accomplished - 2011
|
Dear Family and Friends,
I am once again participating in The Susan G. Komen 3-Day for the Cure®. As many of you know, I walked 60 miles last year with a goal in mind. That goal was, and still is, to do what I can, in my own little way, to help end breast cancer. You might ask why? The answer simply is because most of us have been affected, one way or another, with breast cancer. It might be a mother, a sister, an aunt, a grandma, a neighbor, a friend, or perhaps yourself. For me it is personal. The news about my diagnosis of breast cancer was delivered to me on May 10, 2010. That date happened to be the 25th anniversary of my mom's mastectomy and our son, Jay's, 22nd birthday. It was devastating news. Fortunately for me, I am now cancer-free. I am cancer-free because of regular mammograms, early detection, and advanced treatment options.
I am now very healthy. Because of my fortunate health, I feel compelled to do something positive to rid our world of breast cancer. The Susan G. Komen Foundation is also working towards that end. Please support me and the Ta Ta Breast Cancer Team, which I am a member, as we take this amazing journey in the fight to end breast cancer! The Susan G. Komen 3-Day for the Cure® is a 60 mile walk over the course of three days. Net proceeds from the 3-Day for the Cure are invested in breast cancer research and community programs.
