Pit Stop #4 2011
|
This will be my 10th event. When I was "roped into" this event in 2004, it was so that my mom didn't have to share a tiny 6x6 with a stranger. But, I fell in love with the event and the people that participate. Since I wasn't personally close with anyone who had breast cancer, I always felt that I was doing this event for my future children and nieces/nephews... So that they would never have to know what cancer was. It would be like polio is to us now.
Then my niece, Mia, was born and I thought, this is who I've been doing this event for all these years. So this amazing little girl will never hear that she has breast cancer. It turns out I was wrong.
Three woman who I love dearly were diagnosed within the last six months. These are women that I have looked up to most of my life and have been role models to me. Apparently, without knowing it, I was doing this for them.
Thank you for all the support you have given me through the years. Whether you have donated money, or your time, or come out to cheer me on, I appreciate it all.
Thank you from the botom of my heart!
