There isn't a vaccine to prevent breast cancer yet, but they're working on it and that takes funding.

A fellow walker I met on the 3-Day journey won't be walking this year. She lost her battle.

A teammate and fellow walker endured 50 chemo treatments after a recurrence. She was part of a clinical trial that only happens with research dollars. She did it, she got through it like the trouper she is; but...she doesn't want her daughters to follow in her path.

I don't want my daughter, who unfortunately inherited the BRCA1 gene mutation, to endure high risk surveillance in her 20's, but - she is. There isn't a vaccine to prevent BC, but there could be, right?

So...I'm committed to continue on. Progress is being made.
