Susan G. Komen 3-Day for the Cure
|
Yes, I'm doing it again - I signed up for the 2012 Susan G. Komen 3-Day!! I had such an incredible experience doing the 3-Day last year that I'm going back for more. I'm so excited about this event, even though this year I really know what I've gotten myself into.
Walking last year was one of the most amazing things that I've ever been a part of. Nothing like walking every day, having to set up a tent and shower in a semi, use port-a-potties, eat in a larger tent and come back and sleep in a tent, only to wake up at 5 and start all over again. To see these people walking, barely walking, hobbling, crying, laughing, dancing and never giving up. Husbands, mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers, grandmothers, people in wheel chairs, with canes, everyone with a purpose, to fight breast cancer and find a cure. The people were incredible, the volunteers, all the people who cheered us on all long the route. Very emotional. A very humbling experience. And yes, I'm doing it all over again!!!
This event isn't easy, but I promise you, I wouldn't be doing it if I didn't believe 100% that it was worth every muscle ache, weary night and training walk!
I want to find a cure so those who we have in our lives now won't have to suffer. For those we lost, so they know we continued the fight for them.
I walk for my friend Lisa who is fighting breast cancer. She is my hero. She is a loving beautiful Mother, wife and friend. And doesn't deserve to have to fight this horrible disease. I walk for my grandmother who had breast cancer. I walk.....so a cure can be found.
Thanks for all of your support. I'm incredibly lucky to have people like you in my life!
Love, Gloria
