Susan G. Komen 3-Day for the Cure
|
Please support me as I take an amazing journey in the fight to end breast cancer!
Well, my 4th year as a walker in the 3 Day for the Cure has started. As some of you know the reason I started to walk was for my the love of my life - Heather - when she was diagnosed in 2008 with breast cancer. As a man I put off doing this when my mothers breast cancer returned and took her life or when my sister was diagnosed in late 2007. But I could not put it off anymore when Heather was diagnosed.
I have raised over my minimums for the privalige of walking 60 miles, sleeping in a pink tent, showering in a trailer and wearing a cast after my 1st walk for 6 weeks because of a stress fracture,or the 2nd year a torn off big toenail. Still none of this equals the pain and suffering I saw Heather go through with chemo and surgery.
Well now the rest of the story, in September of 2010, Heather was rediagnosed and under went chemo and radiation treartments, She had to be taken her to hospital for a infection and have the port removed from her chest. She suffered hair loss, vomitting, loss of appetite, burns to her skin. But with all this she was able to keep her wits about her. I know I would not be able to endure this once but she has done it twice. She is my hero.
1 in 7 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer, this is 1 too many. I know that my fundraising has helped to make a difference and that I will not stop walking until we find a cure.
Please help me reach the goal needed of $2300 to particapte again this year. Any donation is a help and something is better than nothing.
Please, do not be like me and sit back and say I will do it soon , please do it now.
