Susan G. Komen 3-Day
|
Yes, I am putting on my sneakers again and walking in my 7th 60-mile Breast Cancer 3-day walk. The 3-Day is an experience - tents, porta-potties and shower trucks. But the truly unforgettable moments are those when you meet survivors, honor those who lost their battle, and hear the stories from fellow walkers. You realize you're not in this world alone, and together we can help fight breast cancer.
Everyone who participates has their own reasons why they walk. I walk to celebrate my mother, almost an 8 year 'survivor', who in 2004 was diagnosed with breast cancer following a routine mammography. I walk to support my aunt who was diagnosed earlier this year, and several friends who are currently fighting breast cancer..I walk because I can..I walk because I cannot walk way from finding a cure...because everyone deserves a lifetime.
Walking the 60 miles has always been the easiest part for me. The challenge is asking for your continued support to raise the $2,300, which is a condition of participation. The monies we raise funds breast cancer research, education, and community outreach programs. I understand these are difficult economic times; however, the consequences of cancer continue despite a slowing economy.
Won't you please consider making a tax deductible donation to support my fundraising efforts as I take another amazing journey in the fight against breast cancer!
Thank you in advance for your generosity!
