And it HAS been too long. Originally, I intended to update this blog every day, but the best laid plans of mice and men, etc. Fortunately a lot has happened recently. Not only did my employer Protocol Global Solutions DOUBLE their donation, but I attended my first serious training session of ten miles. The following day (I know, it should have been the day before, but I only learn slowly) I got a decent pair of walking shoes, socks, shirts and wraparound sunglasses. OK, it would have been a good idea to prepare first, but you learn a lot from a foot-full of blisters...

It's official - there's no turning back now
With effect from Tuesday March 29th, I am officially unable to use any excuses for NOT taking part in the 3-day for the Cure. I attended a 'getting started' meeting along with Lee, and told everyone how I was the only one NOT to be walking in memory of a loved one (it's worrying that there are so many people who ARE). So now it's all about training, wearing the right clothes and eating the right foods. Or trying to. Even 3 day walkers can back-slide.

Today has been a really good day. First, because a very meaningful gesture was made by a colleague of mine, accompanied by a donation, but secondly because another colleague discussed some prospective work that I might want to carry out, AND commented on my fund-raising ideas. He was very supportive of them. I guess some people just recognize talent when they see it LOL. I still think that it is perfectly possible, no UNAVOIDABLE, that my book will be published, and that it will help raise funds for one of the most deserving charities out there.
Thirdly (because there are multiple topics to my blog today) if ANYONE has something to say or has ideas that can help in my fund-raising, just email me at djcounter2008@yahoo.com

Whereas most of the world seem to be saying "TGIF", this is where the REAL work starts! I have to take at least a couple of dozen black and white photos to partner the twenty-five quotes I have written. Also, I need to start writing off to personalities from all arenas in order to get their autographs and thoughts of a motivational nature. Who to get in touch with first? Hmmmm, should I start at the top, or with the celebrity who is most likely to respond quickly? And where to get a contact address? Life is full of decisions...

So having spoken to legal type people, there may well be a change of plans. I was looking into writing a photo-documentary of the 3-day walk, but because there may be issues in publishing anything that might infringe upon 'the 3 day's rights to raise money from the walk, I've arrived at an alternative means of raising funds. I still need the help of someone in the publishing field, HINT! But at least now I don't have to wait until the walk has finished before I can complete the book, When it is complete, I can start sending it off to potential publishers. Wish me luck!

I have to admit that this one was Jamie's idea. I am trying (through constant e-mails, endless Tweets, word of mouth and sheer determination) to get in touch with Ellen DeGeneres. Although I am trying to get the message out through all media outlets, nothing - NOTHING - can compare with the publicity that could be generated by just one person provided that the person in question has their own talk show!

As those who know me will testify, I am telling EVERYONE I meet about my participation in the Susan G Komen 3-day walk. In doing so, I have come to realize that there are amazing contacts everywhere. Our neighbor Martha has been of great help and (fingers crossed) is trying to put me in touch with someone who could help my fund-raising efforts ENORMOUSLY.
