My experience with breast cancer began in September, 1998 when my wife Veronica received her diagnosis that she had stage 3 breast cancer.  Being the fighter that she was, she chose a very aggressive treatment plan. Unfortunately she had a very serious reaction to one of her chemotherapy drugs and passed away just a year later in October, 1999 when she was only 49.

This experience changed my life in a profound way. I knew immediately that I wanted something positive to come from her death and I started by donating her life insurance proceeds to the Karmanos Cancer Institute in Detroit where she was treated.  But I wanted to do more and found the perfect opportunity with the Susan G. Komen 3 day walks to help end breast cancer.  If you are unfamiliar with these walks they cover 20 miles per day for each of the 3 days and require a minimum fund raising donation of $2,300.  These walks have become a powerful source of meaning in my life.  in fact over the last few years I have completed the Michigan walk 4 times while raising over $15,000.

But I still want to do more and I am fortunate enough to have the opportunity to complete something I have dreamed about for almost 10 years.  And that is to complete all 14 of the walks around the country in the same year!  Yes, that means that starting in Boston in July, 2012 I will be traveling to 14 of the largest cities in the country and walking a total of 840 miles in the process.  

I am very excited about the opportunity to do my part to end this terrible disease but I desperately need your help.  In order to participate in all 14 walks I need to raise a minimum of $32,200!  But I don't want to just do the minimum; I want to exceed it by raising over $100,000.
