Susan G. Komen 3-Day for the Cure
|
Welcome to the page of Barbara Jo Kirshbaum
As I begin my 13th year of walking and fundraising for the breast cancer cause, I find myself with another reason for doing this. On July 13, 2009 my husband, Bob, the Team California pink sign guy, was diagnosed with esophageal cancer that had spread to his liver. He is doing ok with the help of chemotherapy drugs and a clinical study. It is our hope that the money raised for breast cancer research and the answers being found in the fight against breast cancer may also 'bring down' other cancers. Dr. Bob lost his battle on May 6, 2010. I have walked in 111 long distance walks, walked over 6100 miles and raised over $1.13m for this fight. My plan is walk in as many walks as possible and raise as much money as I can towards my 2nd million! To donate on line please click 'donate' and then click 'San Diego' and type in my name. Please visit my personal website: http://www.bjkcounselor.com and read about my journey and check out my daughter's handmade breast cancer jewelry.
Thank you for your support.

On May 6, 2010, Bob died peacefully at home. He requested that in lieu of flowers donations be made to fight breast cancer. He also asked me to continue being involved in this cause, which I will continue doing. Thank you for all of your calls, prayers, emails, cards, tthoughts, and support. love, barbara jo and family
