Air Travel

American Airlines is offering discounted fares for Susan G. Komen 3-Day® participants, with Promotional Code 8883BQ. Special restrictions, fees and dates apply.

Discounted fares available by phone at 800-433-1790 (American Airlines ticketing fees may apply when booking directly via the telephone).

Discounted fares available online at aa.com (under “Reservations” tab, then “Book Flights” tab, with Promotion Code 8883BQ).

All-Crew Meeting
Thursday, August 8

All crew members must attend the All-Crew Meeting on Thursday, August 8 at Northbrook Court. You will get to meet other crew members, learn how to put up tents and canopies, talk on a walkie-talkie and maybe even drive a big truck. You will receive your crew t-shirts, event equipment and critical information about your specific role on the 3-Day®. Attendance at the All-Crew Meeting on Thursday is required for all crew members.

The All-Crew Meeting will last approximately 4 hours. Your crew assignment and check-in status will determine your exact individual arrival time. Please contact your Crew Captain to confirm your scheduled arrival time BEFORE finalizing your travel plans. Please note that there will be no shuttles on Thursday from the All-Crew Meeting to the host hotel. If you are in need of a ride, please contact your fellow crew members. There will be parking available for the All-Crew Meeting.

 

Thursday Night Host Hotels and Shuttle Transportation
The 3-Day has a group room block at local hotels that will include shuttle transportation from the hotel to the Opening Ceremony on Friday morning. The group rate is available for 3-Day participants only. All types of participants (walker, crew, Youth Corps, Young Women Walking) are eligible for the same host hotels. All hotel reservations must be booked by July 24.

If you stay at another hotel or your room is not booked through the link above, you will not receive a shuttle pass and are not guaranteed weekend parking at the hotel. Personal vehicles are not allowed at any 3-Day site.

Tickets for a shuttle bus from the Closing Ceremony to the host hotels can be purchased for $20 per person in the Main Street area of camp on Friday between 5:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. This shuttle will only go to the host hotels and is open to any participant who purchases a Sunday return shuttle sticker at camp on Friday night. You do not need to be a hotel guest. Please be aware that you can only purchase these shuttle passes on Friday night in camp; they will not be available for purchase on Saturday night.



Long-Term Parking
Passes for long-term parking at Northbrook Court (follow signs upon arrival at Northbrook Court Shopping Center, 2171 Northbrook Court, Northbrook, IL 60062) will be sold for $25 at the entrance of the long-term parking lot on Friday morning. You will receive a parking pass to put on the dashboard of your vehicle at that time. Only those participants who have purchased a long-term parking pass will be allowed to leave their vehicle for the entire weekend. Long-term parking is limited, and is on a first-come/first-served basis.

Tickets for a shuttle bus from the Closing Ceremony to the long-term parking lot can be purchased for $20 per person in the Main Street area of camp on Friday, 5:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. Please be aware that you can only purchase these shuttle passes on Friday night in camp.

While reasonable efforts are made to provide security for long-term parking, the participant agrees and acknowledges that any and all loss associated with such parking shall be at his/her own risk and ultimately his/her own full responsibility.

Note: If exiting Lake Cook Road off 294, be aware that there is some road construction that has parts of Lake Cook Road down to one lane. Be sure to give yourself extra time in the morning.

Schedule for the Day:
4:30 a.m. - Crew members should arrive. (Check with your Crew Captain for your exact arrival time and location.)
5:30 a.m. - 6:30 a.m. - Walkers should arrive.
7:00 a.m. - Opening Ceremony begins with community stretching.

 



Friday & Saturday Night Host Hotels: Walkers Only*
The 3-Day has a group room block at hotels, for walkers planning to sleep at a hotel rather than at the 3-Day campsite. The hotel accommodations include shuttle transportation to and from the 3-Day campsite. The group rate is available for 3-Day walkers and Young Women Walking only. All hotel reservations must be booked by July 24 through the link below.

We ask that all participants leaving camp for any reason check out before departing.

For your convenience, hotel accommodations include shuttle transportation to and from the 3-Day campsite (maximum of 4 passes per room reservation). Shuttle buses cannot accommodate bicycles.

If you stay at another hotel or your room is not booked through the link above, you will not receive shuttle transportation to camp and are not guaranteed weekend parking at the hotel. Personal vehicles are not allowed at any 3-Day site.

* In order to best serve the needs of our walkers, we need every single crew member to sleep at camp and be available throughout the weekend.



Saturday Route Information for Young Women Walking
Saturday’s route will open at 7:00 a.m. Please meet at the Young Women Walking tent in the 3-Day camp at Our Lady of Guadalupe/Maryville Academy, 1150 N. River Road, Des Plaines, IL 60016 45 minutes prior to the route opening, no later than 6:15 a.m.

If you are staying at the host hotel under the 3-Day rate, you can take the 3-Day shuttle to the route on Saturday morning, and back to the hotel on Saturday night.

Parking will be available at camp and participants will be directed upon arrival.

The route will close at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, but you are invited to stay at the 3-Day camp to enjoy dinner, a dance party, a special “pink party” reception in the Young Women Walking tent, and other fun activities. The festivities will wrap up at 9:00 p.m., when it’s lights out at camp.



Closing Ceremony

Your friends, family and supporters should arrive at the Closing Ceremony site at least one hour early to secure a space by the stage that will give them the best view of the program. Please let your supporters know to allow extra time for travel and parking. We encourage them to carpool or take public transportation. Not only is it better for the planet, but it will help lessen traffic congestion for everyone.

All walkers and crew members are encouraged to remain in the Participant Finish Area where you will receive your victory shirt, cheer on fellow walkers and crew members and reflect on your experience together before the dramatic victory walk into the Closing Ceremony.

The Participant Finish Area is closed to spectators. If you wish to meet with friends and family before the Ceremony begins, please exit the Participant Finish Area and join them near the Closing Ceremony location. Just remember to return to the Participant Finish Area no later than 4:00 p.m. to join the victory walk.

 

Parking:
Parking is available for $20.00 per car in the Waldron Parking Deck on 18th St.
