At least that's the plan. And as I am known to do, I already signed up for 2025 before completing my November 2024 Walk. I'm hoping it's enough to keep this old body inspired to keep walking 60 miles in 3 days.
If you don't know my story...
When my sister, Terry, was diagnosed with breast cancer, I knew I had to get off my couch. It was 2003, and Susan G. Komen had taken over the event so I signed up in my beloved home (at the time) in San Diego.
And I am still walking, despite never intending to walk beyond that 1st Walk. I simply cannot walk away.
I am happy to report Terry is still going strong as a survivor. But in 2023 she also kicked endometrial cancer's tail. My warrior sister!
I also learned in 2023 of three more women friends being diagnosed with breast cancer and other forms of cancer, Stop! Please!
Since that 1st Walk, I have learned of too many friends and colleagues who have/had breast cancer. As if I needed any other motivation to keep this Old Lady Walking, my niece, Renee, was diagnosed months before the 2019 Walk.
I say enough! We have to stop cancer. Once. And. For. All.
So, once again (the good Lord willing), I will join the very special ladies who walked into my life as teammates and stay forever in my heart. Our Pink Tahoe Ladies include three breast cancer survivors and a few of us who had other forms of cancer.
Cancer isn't done yet and neither am I.
My contributors round out my circle of support. Many of them have been with me from the 1st walk through today. Their generosity and spirit of giving humble me. I am so grateful to all of you.
As long as this Old Lady Walking body will carry me, I am walking 60 miles in 3 days with the hope we find a cure for cancer soon. If you can donate to help me continue this journey of the heart, I would be very appreciative.
Walk on!
