After a nearly 10 year hiatus, I have decided this year to embark on one final 3-Day adventure--this time as a BREAST CANCER SURVIVOR!! During the 12+ years that I was involved with the 3-Day, I walked as someone who desperately wanted to do something BIG to help put an end to breast cancer. At first, I was someone whose life had never been touched by breast cancer directly, and then as someone whose very dearest friend became a warrior and then a survivor. Together, she and I walked through several 3-Day adventures, finally hanging up our walking shoes and pursuing other endeavors.
And then I myself was diagnosed with Stage 3 invasive ductal carcinoma in January of 2023. Over the next year, I learned firsthand EXACTLY what it was that we had walked so many miles and raised so much money to try to eradicate forever. I endured 3 surgeries (with at least one more to come), 5 months of chemo, 25 radiation treatments, and more blood draws, injections, scans, and doctor's appointments than I can even count.
But I came out the other side A SURVIVOR! And that is thanks in no small part to the money that I am SO PROUD to have had a hand in raising through the years.
This year, I will only be walking one day of the 3-Day experience. With surgery still on the horizon for spring/summer this year, I know that I will not be able to get myself ready for 60 miles by August. HOWEVER, the cause means more to me now than ever, and so now I humbly ask for your support as I embark on this, my final 3-Day (in just one day!) adventure.
Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for your love and support!!!
