My journey...
On the morning of October 3rd, I set out on a daunting and physically trying journey-to walk 60 miles over the course of 3 days.
On Day 1, I walked a full 22 miles! The day started out brisk with a clear blue sky. The last 6 or 7 miles I was in constant pain and I limped the 1/2 mile constantly being reassured by 3-Day staff that the end was "just around the bend." Well, four bends later, I made it! Crying with joy and relief, I fell into my mother's waiting arms as she proudly welcomed me home.
On Day 3, I got myself taped, bandaged and braced and walked the final half. Walking past our Nation's capitol was inspiring! The last 5 miles I hobbled, hopped and walked with a hitch, but I managed to cross the victory line where I was greeted by my fellow 2,800 walkers!
After gathering our victory t-shirts, we walked arm-in-arm to the closing ceremonies. We finished the 3 days by raising our shoes in salute to the strong survivors who walked beside us.
While my physical journey is over, I do still need help in reaching my fundraising goal!
